Holidays....

Holidays.......YEAH!! Having my holidays now. No work for two weeks. So fun. Need to relax a bit before seeing the kids again. It's actually quite stressful teaching them. Luckily I'm just working there till the end of next month. What am I going to do for the next two weeks? I don't have any idea. There's just one thing I must do. Sleep. Haha. Since I don't get to sleep late when I have work so I need to enjoy my sleep now. I plan to exercise too. Have been eating a lot lately. EAT + SLEEP = FAT. Need to exercise so I can still continue eating all those yummy things (mostly fatty and oily food). Gaining weight is so easy. But losing weight is so hard. What else shall I do this holidays? Hmm.... *thinking* No ideas already. Don't want to waste my two weeks of holidays. Will go and think now. Tata

My hamsters

I've been keeping hamsters since........i dunno when I started keeping it. I started keeping two hamsters. A female and a male. We called it Mickey and Minnie. But Mickey was actually a female. And Minnie was a male. We only knew about it when Mickey gave birth. Haha. Not our fault for naming them wrongly because the shopkeeper told us that Mickey was a male and Minnie was a female. We switched their names after that. I didn't know Minnie was pregnant too. When it gave birth i thought the babies were papayas. Haha. Because sometimes we feed them fresh fruits. Only knew it were baby hamsters when it started moving. But all of the baby hamsters died. Because the mother ate it. So cruel. After around a month the mother also died. So we went to buy two more hamsters to accompany Mickey. We didn't name them because we were afraid that we might name them wrongly again. Haha. The two were much smaller compared to Mickey. So we were afraid that it'll get bullied. But the shopkeeper told us that it wont fight since it's the same species. In the beginning they were OK but after a few months one of it died and another died too after sometime. So Mickey is the survivor. Haha. We brought Mickey along to the pet shop so that he could choose his partner. He picked one that has red eyes. It looks like a rat. Haha. Recently my sister and I upgraded their small house into a big bungalow. They still don't really know how to go into the tunnel and go up and down. Sometimes they would just climb from the side to go up and then 'terjun' down. Haha. They sure are cute no matter what they do.

Teacher's Day

For the first time in my life i celebrated Teacher's Day..Not as a student but as a teacher. Haha. Since I'm working at the nursery so I'm a teacher also la. I went to work as usual. When I arrive at the nursery, there were 2 kids waiting near the door. Each holding a present. They said good morning and then they gave the present to me. Sooooo sweet... I thank them and went inside. When I was going to start doing reading with the kids, the boss said that we don't have to do any reading today since it was teacher's day. Doing reading with the kids is very hard especially with the slower ones. You definitely need a lot of patience to be able to sit and 'tahan' them. If you don't have patience then you will 'meletup'. Haha. So I was very happy since I don't have to do reading with them. Since it was Thursday so they went out to play until around 9.30. We just have to keep an eye on them. Just to make sure they don't fight or fall down. After that they had 'circle time'. That's when they sing songs. They played games too. They played 'pass the parcel', dancing ( i don't know what it's called) and another game ( they say it in mandarin so i don't know what it is). Before the kids start eating, the teachers started to eat fruit tarts. Haha. Usually the teachers get to eat only after the kids have finish eating. So it's nice eating before them. We had our lunch too after the kids had finish eating. Then relax again. After the kids had their bath we played with them for awhile. That's when we received another present. Each teacher got a rose. It was given by one of the kid's parents. we got soap flower too. Don't think I'm going to use it. Just putting it in my room. Nice smell. Our boss gave us presents too. A bag of presents. Haha. That was the end of teacher's day. Hope I get to celebrate it once more.

Heaven Knows

Rick Price - Heaven Knows

She's always on my mind

From the time I wake up,

Till I close my eyes.

She's everywhere I go

She's all I know.

And though she's so far away,

It just keeps getting stronger everyday

And even now she's gone

I'm still holding on

So tell me, where do I start

'Coz it's breakin' my heart

Don't wanna let her go

Chorus:

Maybe my love will come back someday

Only heaven knows

And maybe our hearts will find a way

But only heaven knows

And all I can do is hope & pray

'Coz heaven knows.

My friends keep telling me

That if you really love her,

You've gotta set her free

And if she returns in time

I'll know she's mine

But tell me, where do I start

'Coz it's breakin' my heart

Don't wanna let her go

(Repeat Chorus except last line)

Bridge:

'Coz heaven knows

Why I live in despair

'Coz wide awake or dreamin',

I know she's never there

And all the time I act so brave,

I'm shakin' inside

Why does it hurt me so?

(Repeat Chorus)

Heaven knows... heaven knows.

Eggs....

Eggs.....Do you know about all the different types of eggs? Of course we know about the eggs that we always eat. The 'normal' chicken egg. But there's other different, yummy eggs that are available. Maybe not all are available here but we still can find some other types of eggs here.

OK...Let's start with the salted duck eggs. It's made by soaking duck eggs in brine
or packing each egg in damped salted charcoal. It's often eaten with congee ( in chinese it's called 'moi' ). The egg white is salty but the yolk is less salty. It's yolk is also used in chinese mooncake to symbolize the moon. But salted duck eggs can also be made from chicken eggs. Of course it will have a slightly different taste.

Next we have the century egg. It's preserved for only a few months. Not for hundred years. It's made by preserving chicken, duck or quail eggs in mixture of clay, salt, ash, limeand rice straw for several weeks to several months. If you ask the older generation they would tell you that it's preserved in horse urine. Hope that's not true. There's many ways to eat it. It can be eaten without being cook. Some people eat it with slices of pickled ginger root. On special occasion, it is served as part of the cold dish.

We also have tea eggs. It's actually hard boiled eggs that are further stewed in salted tea liquids. Other Flavorings are also added as well. We can usually find this eggs in some supermarket. You can smell the nice smelly from far. Haha.

Then we have the 'balut'... It's well known in Vietnam, Philiphines and Cambodia. It's actually fertilized duck or chicken egg with a nearly developed embryo inside. It you have been watching Fear Factor or The Amazing Race then you would have probably seen it before. I haven't tried it before. And i don't think i will try it. But i might consider trying.

Well... Time to try them soon. Haha....Eggie time

Food

Everyone needs to eat right? But sometimes when I go out to eat I just can't think of where to go. I don't know if it happens to you all but it happens to me all the time. So I'll just drive around until I find somewhere that's quite OK to eat. I just can't think of anywhere else to go. I'll always end up at the few shops that i usually go. I'm getting bored of the food there. Anyway is there anywhere that serve nice food over here?? I miss all those hawker stall's food. Haha. Alor Star does not have much nice food to eat. If you are finding nice food to eat then the last place to find is over here. Seriously. So if there's anywhere that serves nice food then please tell me.......

Cameron Highlands

Well, on Labour's Day i went for a trip. It may sound very interesting but it was not really that interesting because i only spent a night there. So it was quite tiring. We left from my grandmother's house at around 7 something i guess. Was still sleepy so don't know exactly what time it was. Haha. We had breakfast before starting the long journey. I tried to sleep but can't really sleep because it wasn't comfortable. When you are small then it's more comfortable but not when you are big. There's not much space for you to put your legs :P Halfway through the journey i was becoming restless. I felt like getting out from the car to take a walk. But unfortunately there's no place to stop because we were halfway up the hill. So had to 'tahan'. When we reach i was so happy. Finally, i can get out of the car. But...it was not as cold as what i expected. Colder compare to the weather here but not really that cold. So i bought strawberry ice cream. Nice and yummy. There was a lot of stalls selling fried mushrooms. So my brother bought one to try. I just had a little bite because mushroom is NOT my favourite. It taste quite ok. I didn't buy anything else because there was nothing to buy. Only vegetables and strawberries. After around 30 minutes we went back to the car and continue going up, up and up. The hotel we were going to stay only allow us to check in at 2 o'clock. So we had to find somewhere else to start picnic-ing. We manage to find a place so we started eating. By the time we had finish eating it was still early and still can't check in. So we went shopping. There's nothing much to buy. Unless you want to buy strawberries. Everywhere you turn there's strawberries. Strawberry jam, strawberry juice, strawberry popcorn, strawberry this...strawberry that....Finally it was 2 o'clock. So we went to the hotel to check in. Everyone was tired so they went for a nap. When everyone had 'charge their batteries' we decided to go for a drive. but since it was a public holiday so....traffic jam..can't go up and can't go down. Went back to hotel then walk to a nearby pasar malam. I ate a lot of things over there. Can't remember what i ate. Bought some vegetables then walk back to the hotel. We cook the vegetables for dinner. It taste the same as what we have here. So nothing special. Haha. By night time it was really cold. We didn't go out anymore. Stayed at the hotel to watch tv. Haha. Next day we went to 'Big Red Strawberry Farm'. We tried the strawberry waffles with ice cream, strawberry sundae, butterhead salad juice, yogurt with fresh strawberries and fresh strawberries with cream. YUMMY. After that it was time to go back home. On the way back we stopped at a tea house. We had scones. It was so expensive. There's just two 'buns' and strawberry jam and butter n cream. It's RM 12 just for those small scones. But it was nice. After eating we went back home. A long journey back...........

Some pictures that i took:
